North Hills Girls' Cross Country Team Wins WPIAL Class AAA Championship
Members of both the girls and boys cross country teams will compete this weekend at the PIAA meet in Hershey.
The North Hills girls' cross country team won the 2011 WPIAL Class AAA Cross Country Championship Thursday at Cooper’s Lake in Slippery Rock. The girls defeated 49 other teams to claim the championship for the second consecutive year.
Margo Malone finished first and is the WPIALGirls’ Champion. In addition, Shannon Malone finished second; Mary Malone, fourth; Caitlyn Janeda, 16th; Clare Brown, 23rd; Alex Rode, 69th; and Sabrina Palmieri, 91st.
The girls travel to Hershey this weekend to compete in the PIAA meet.
For the boys’ team, Anton Martinez finished 22nd and qualified for the PIAAmeet this weekend in Hershey.
The PIAA Championships will be held at Parkview Cross Country Course in the Hershey Giant Center Complex on Saturday, Nov. 5.
