North Hills Students Growing Plants for Local Garden to Feed Area Families in Need
The Rosalinda Sauro Sirianni Garden is a community-supported, organic garden that grows fresh produce for North Hills Community Outreach's two food pantries.
North Hills High School students in class taught by family and consumer science teacher Amy Pastilevas and health and physical education teacher Kelly Krecek recently teamed up with North Hills Community Outreach to help feed those in need in the local community.
Students in the Nutrition, Food and Fitness class held a special planting day on March 11 to begin growing seedlings for the organization’s Rosalinda Sauro Sirianni Garden in Bellevue. The class planted nearly 250 seeds for everything ranging from peppers to cilantro that will be transplanted into the garden in May.
Prior to planting, the class used a specially created iBook designed by Pastilevas to learn proper planting techniques and materials and details of seed starting.
