Perrysville Station 248 Hosts 'Firefighter for a Weekend' Event
Five things you will learn about being a volunteer firefighter.

The Perrysville Volunteer Fire Company, Station 248, is hosting its annual "Firefighter for a Weekend Event" this Saturday and Sunday, Sept 7-8.
The event is for anyone 16 or older who wants to learn what it would be like to become a firefighter.
"Being a firefighter is a very physical yet rewarding experience learning new skills and building confidence not only in yourself but working in a team environment," the fire company said in a statement. "During the weekend event you will learn new skills that you probably thought you would never be able to do."
Here are 5 of the skills taught over the course of the weekend:
1. Fire Behavior (learning basics of fire and the dangers firefighters face).
2. Using a self-contained breathing apparatus.
3. Using a ladder in a fire.
4. Hose line deployment.
5. Fire extinguisher training with a live fire.
Each participant will be issued firefighting gear to wear for all activities. A free lunch and drinks will be provided. Check out pictures from last year's event on the fire company's Facebook page.
If you are interested, go to the Perrysville Volunteer Fire Company web site to register. Applications will be accepted up until Saturday morning, but organizers would prefer everyone sign up by Friday so they can have the proper gear ready by Saturday morning.
