Raymond E. Nichols

Nichols was a former volunteer fireman for the Quaill Volunteer Fire Department and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Raymond E. Nichols, 90, of Ross Township, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA March 12, 1921, he was the son of the late Ellsworth E. and Leona (Rahn) Nichols and husband of the late Jean E. (Riggs) Nichols.

He is the father of Marsha Oliver, Donna Nichols and Linda (Steve) Folmer; grandfather of William, John and Ronald Preston, Sharon (Justin) Ambrass and Bonnie Sarazen; great-grandfather of Travis, Brayden, Mya Ambrass, William R., Jr. and Benjamin Preston.

The family will welcome friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the , Inc., 388 Center Ave., West View. The service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday. 

Nichols was a former volunteer fireman for the , a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and before his retirement he was a cable installer for the Duquesne Light Company.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Nichols' wife, Jean, to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, 2501 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 435, Dallas, TX 75219.
