Red Lobster's Ross Location In Doubt After Chain Files For Bankruptcy

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA — The future of Red Lobster's Ross and other Pittsburgh area locations are in doubt after the popular seafood restaurant chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Red Lobster currently has 578 restaurants in 44 states and Canada. But the company unveiled a plan in its bankruptcy filing Sunday that would dramatically reduce that number.

The bankruptcy filing comes after Red Lobster abruptly closed 93 of its eateries on May 13. The chain has asked the court to reject 108 of its existing leases to further slim down the restaurant's footprint.
Red Lobster's current Southwestern Pennsylvania locations are in:

• Ross, McKnight Road.

• Robinson, Robinson Center Drive.

• Monroeville, Wiliam Penn Highway.

• West Mifflin, Clairton Boulevard.

• Greensburg, Route 30.

• Butler, Moraine Point.

For now, Red Lobster stated that its restaurants "will remain open and operating as usual during the Chapter 11 process, continuing to be the world's largest and most-loved seafood restaurant company," the chain stated in a news release.

"The company has been working with vendors to ensure that operations are unaffected and has received a $100 million (in financing) from its existing lenders."
