Traffic will be reduced to a single lane for about two miles from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

About two miles of roadwork along Babcock Boulevard and Rochester Road from Perry Highway to McKnight Road will reduce traffic to a single lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Monday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Crews are working on drainage issues through late July. Milling and resurfacing activities are expected to begin later this month during nighttime operations. Overall work will conclude in October.

The work is part of a $3.2 million contract with A. Folino Construction of Oakmont for improvements on several roadways in Allegheny County.

The construction is one of several projects throughout the area. McKnight Road between Babcock Boulevard and Perrymont Road has been reduced to a single lane during the evenings and will remain restricted until October.

There also are lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekday nights on Babcock Boulevard in the area of McKnight Road for the same $8.8 million project intended to improve the McKnight roadway, curbs and sidewalks.

Signals are being upgraded on McKnight between Nelson Run and Perrymont roads, and bridge preservation work is being done on the span of McKnight Road over Babcock Boulevard, affecting that area and parts of Peoples Road.

Thompson Run Road closed Tuesday just south of the Amity Road intersection for a bridge replacement project. The closure, which provides access to local traffic but detours others to McIntyre and McKnight roads, is expected to last through early November.
