Ross Park Security Reports Attempt to Set off Mall Sprinkler System

The following information was supplied by the Ross Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction. The report covers notable incidents in the period from Nov. 22 to Nov. 28.

Monday, Nov. 28

A 25-year-old man reported that a vehicle was keyed overnight while parked in a garage.

Employees at the Apple Store at the Ross Park Mall reported the theft of two laptop computers at about 8:42 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 27

An unidentified business along Ross Park Mall Drive reported the theft of a shirt, a watch, underwear, a jersey, socks, a scarf, a hat and gloves at about 4:25 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 26

One Pennsylvania state emissions and one Pennsylvania state inspection sticker were reported stolen from the Toyota Dealership on Browns Lane at about 11:30 a.m.

A 69-year-old man reported he was in an argument with a woman driving a white SUV over a parking spot along Ross Park Mall Drive. When he returned to the parking spot later in the afternoon, at about 4 p.m., he found his car had been keyed along the driver's side from the middle of the front door to the front of the car. 

Security employees at the Ross Park Mall reported that someone had attempted to set off the sprinkler system inside the mall sometime between 6:55 p.m. and 7:06 p.m. Upon investigation, it appeared as if someone had stuffed a cotton material in the sprinkler and lit it on fire in an attempt to set it off. Neither the sprinkler system nor any other fire suppression device was activated. 

An unidentified, highly intoxicated man was arrested for public drunkenness along McKnight Road at about 7:54 p.m.

An unidentified business in McIntyre Square reported the theft of a camcorder, BB gun, cartridge and needle-nose pliers.

Thursday, Nov. 24

Officers reported to a residence near the intersection of Henderson Road and Gardner Place at about 5:03 p.m. in response to a complaint about loud music. One man, unidentified, was cited for disorderly conduct.

Tuesday, Nov. 22

A vehicle crashed into a pole along Amity Drive at about 7:52 p.m. No injuries were reported, the vehicle was towed and Verizon was notified about damage to the pole. The driver, an unidentified man, was arrested for driving under the influence.
