West View Police Blotter: June 17 - June 24

Friday, June 24
A man, unknown age, driving near the 200 block of Lakewood Avenue at about 1:36 a.m. reported that someone pointed a red laser through his car window and that he thought he saw a person on a nearby porch holding an assault rifle. An officer who responded to the call found a group of juveniles on the porch. A search uncovered several air guns with laser lights. Police advised the juveniles of the dangers and consequences of pointing lasers at passing cars, and they went inside for the night.

A 45-year-old man reported a burglary at 11:35 a.m., which he thought occurred the night before. He said he arrived to his home in the 300 block of Center Avenue and found his door kicked in, Viagra pills missing and $350 from his safe missing.
Several people flagged down an officer at about 1:31 a.m. to report a group of juveniles had gotten out of a dark green sedan in the 300 block of Perry Highway, across the street from McDonald's, and were throwing objects at a house and breaking the front windows of the patio. Police cited two males, 17 and 16, for criminal mischief and underage drinking.

Wednesday, June 22
A 37-year-old woman reported at 11:20 p.m. that she had lost her wallet between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. somewhere between the U.S. Post Office in West View Plaza and Kmart. The wallet contained her driver's license and $70 in cash.
A 32-year-old man who lives in the 200 block of Frankfort Avenue reported that his next-door neighbor, a 40-year-old woman, had sprayed his house and fence with paint at about 12:57 p.m. while painting her own fence. He said he wanted to take pictures for his homeowner's insurance but she refused to stop trying to clean up the mistake. An officer asked her to not clean any more.
Tuesday, June 21
Police cited a 21-year-old man with drug possession after they discovered a marijuana cigar during a traffic stop at 7:38 p.m. near Chalfonte Avenue and Perry Highway.
A 51-year-old man reported at 10:41 a.m. that two sling straps were missing from the bed of his truck, which had been parked overnight at his residence in the 40 block of Glenmore Avenue. He valued them at $65 each.
Monday, June 20
Police cited a 23-year-old man at about 10 p.m. for possession and disorderly conduct after finding five marijuana pipes, two syringes, one package of Zig Zag rolling papers, two spoons, one straw and one scale in his vehicle during a traffic stop along West View Park Drive, near the Kmart.
Two 23-year-old men and a 21-year-old woman were arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail after police found six small bags of heroin in a vehicle during a traffic stop at about 4:18 p.m. near Perry Highway and Center Avenue.
Sunday, June 19
A 33-year-old woman reported at 8:15 p.m. that she was receiving prank telephone phone calls. She told police she is a teacher and thought it might be students prank calling her.
Police cited a 42-year-old man for disorderly conduct for having a marijuana pipe after an officer smelled marijuana outside an apartment at 6:37 p.m. in the 100 block of Schwitter Avenue.
A 23-year-old woman reported at 10:59 a.m. that she was missing $80 cash, a $300 camera, her car key, a $25 SD card, a cell phone battery, a $30 cell phone case, her driver's license, social security card and car key after she spent the night at a friend's house in the 60 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue.
A 41-year-old man stopped by police for a traffic violation at about 3:15 a.m. jumped back into his vehicle when a tow truck pulled up and led police on a chase along Perry Highway from Old Perry Highway to Bascom Avenue. Police stopped pursuing the vehicle when speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour. The man later turned himself in and was arrested for fleeing, eluding, reckless driving and driving while under suspension.
Four men, unknown ages, caused a loud disturbance at 1:28 a.m. near the intersection of Center and Columbia avenues. An officer found one man intoxicated. The other three told police they were taking the intoxicated man out for Father's Day. No citations were issued.
Saturday, June 18
Police cited a 44-year-old man for public drunkeness after finding him in the West View Plaza near Kmart at 11:27 p.m. Officers took him into custody and released him to a relative.
A 52-year-old man was seen urinating behind the at 5:03 p.m. in the 1000 block of West View Park Drive. He told police he was on medication that made him urinate often. Police advised him to find a restroom next time.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious box in front of the at 8:21 a.m. in the 900 block of West View Park Drive. They said the white box with gray tape and no markings was empty.
A woman, unknown age, reported that two neighborhood children in the 100 block of Highland Avenue were shooting air guns at her house and yard and that it happened often. An officer talked to the parent of the children and advised her that it was not OK for the children to shoot the guns within the borough.
A 40-year-old man was cited for public drunkenness at 5:22 p.m. at the West View Plaza. He said it was his birthday and he had a few too many.
