William A. Rogers

Rogers founded Rogers School of Driving on McKnight Road in the North Hills in 1969 and for more than 60 years taught driving instruction to thousands of students across the region.

William A. Rogers, 85, of Ross Township, died Friday, June 17, 2011. Born July 3, 1925 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Andrew and Diane (Gorachan) Vidusek. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Janet N. (Hensel) Rogers, and is the father of Robin Garcia of Ross, Bonnie (Patrick) Flink of Cranberry Township, Wanda (Michael) Parise of Ross, and Timothy Rogers of Mt. Lebanon. He is also brother of Walter (Mary Ellen) Vidusek of Illinois, and grandfather of Heather (Justin) Brosette, Shannon (Josip Martin) Garcia, Brian Flink, Jason Flink, and Michelle Parise.

The Rogers family will welcome friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at ., 388 Center Ave., West View. At the request of the family, blessing services and interment will be held privately.

Rogers founded Rogers School of Driving on McKnight Road in the North Hills in 1969 and for more than 60 years taught driving instruction to thousands of students across the region. He also ran the Sears Driving School in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia for many years. Rogers worked with his family at Rogers Driving School up to his last days and his legacy as a leader in driving instruction will be remembered. Paramount in his life was his family, being the best husband, dad, and grandfather anyone could ask for. He will be missed.
