Work to Improve I-79 Bridges Covers Area Between Cranberry and Wexford

Two lanes will remain open on interstate in each direction as crews work from 9 am - 3 pm.

Work to improve bridges on I-79 in the area between the Cranberry (Exit 78) and Wexford interchanges (Exit 73) will occur Wednesday through Friday, weather permitting, PennDOT District 11 announced.

As crews install delineators on I-79, intermittent single-lane closures will occur as needed in both directions from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. Two lanes will remain open on I-79 in each direction at all times.

Work will also occur to replace lighting under the bridge that carries I-79 over Warrendale-Bayne Road.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction on Warrendale-Bayne Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.       

This work completes a $10 million project to improve the I-79 bridges over Warrendale-Bayne Road and Mingo Road and the northbound off-ramp to Route 19.

The prime contractor is Swank Construction Co. LLC of New Kensington.
