Driver Extricated from Truck After Crash

A Moyer truck driver needed to be rescued and a Collegeville woman suffered minor injuries following a three-car crash at the intersection of Township Line and Church roads in Skippack Township, Jan. 16, shortly before 2:45 p.m.

According to , the truck driver, Walter Smith, of Norristown, ran the posted stop sign at the intersection and collided with a black Kia Sorrento, driven by Anunzia Luberto, 20, of Collegeville. The truck then spun and fell to its side, hitting the front end of another Kia -- driven by Charles Anders of Towamencin -- as it came to rest on the ground.

Smith was trapped in his vehicle; helped him out, but he was uninjured.

Skippack EMS transported Luberto to Mercy Suburban Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Skippack firefighters helped clear the scene, and traffic was diverted away from the scene.

towed Luberto's car and the Moyer truck; Anders was able to drive his car from the scene.

Residents from the nearby neighborhood watched the cleanup from the sidewalk, and two men, Joe Leone and Silvio Casalinuovo, lamented the lack of a four-way stop at the intersection. At present, only the Township Line traffic must stop. Additional signs warn drivers that the Church Road traffic does not stop.

"How many more accidents does there need to be before something is done?" Casalinuovo asked.
