Why are you seeking elective office?
To help expand representation across different groups within the community.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Post Pandemic Education. Inequities in education have always been a concern. Concerns such as learning loss due to lockdowns and home environments that are not conducive to a positive learning experience, mental well being in regard to the pandemic and the current political climate, and effective leadership. All of which was exacerbated by the pandemic.
Understanding that there is no “one size fits all” solution, communication is key , meeting students where they are, engaging the community, making connections with non-profits to assist where needed and maintaining flexibility is crucial when providing the best opportunity for all students.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I currently work for an international web hosting company as an Executive Solutions Manager where I use my unique skill set to work as a liaison between the Board of Directors and the customer to identify the root cause of an escalated issue, improve internal processes, and develop new guidelines for procedures to enhance a positive customer experience.
Using both my professional and personal experiences I will work to ensure equity and inclusion for students, staff and families. Understanding that more needs to be done to ensure all students regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability are to be afforded the same opportunities for success, and are respected in a welcoming equitable environment. I will advocate for curriculum updates to address real life circumstances such as personal finance, mental health, human rights, self awareness, survival skills, and mindfulness. I believe engaging the community, student voices, and orderly and transparent decision making is key in successful board service. I am eager and excited to continue to uphold PVSD's stellar reputation.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
