LOWER FREDERICK TOWNSHIP, PA — Fire crews were called out to this Perkiomen Valley community early Wednesday afternoon to battle a blaze at a local greenhouse business.

The Lower Frederick Fire Company said that it and other mutual aid partners were dispatched to a building fire on Wednesday at around 1:05 p.m. in Lower Frederick Township.

When crews arrived, they discovered a "large amount" of fire found at the rear of one of the multiple greenhouses at the business, fire company officials stated.

A look at photos posted on social media of the scene shows that the fire was located at a business called Meng Road Greenhouses, located at 27 Meng Road.

A website for the business says the family operation dates back to 1972, and was started by Gabriel Ott, Sr.

The website says that sons Gabe Jr. and John took over the family business back in 1999.

"Meng Road Greenhouses is truly a special experience that will capture your heart," the website states.

The business appears to carry a variety of plants, from annuals and perennials to seasonal plants and other items.

There was no immediate word on what may have caused the fire to break out at the business or on the extent of damages.

The Lower Frederick Fire Company posted about the incident on Facebook and included numerous photographs from the fire scene.
