Funding Possibilities for South Elementary Renovations Still Being Discussed
In other business, the board heard cost options of installing flashing lights at Middle School West.

The following are notes that came out of the Perkiomen Valley School Board work session. Thanks to Laurie Weidner and Business Administrator Jim Weaver for submitting information.
• The Board continues to discuss options for funding South’s renovations. The Board discuss a review of the options at hand as provided by our financial advisor Public Financial Management (PFM) at the Finance Committee meeting. No decisions were made regarding what option/s would be approved by the Board. The goal is to ultimately provide funding for this project by using the most efficient way possible and a combination of several may be needed.
Although there was shared debate, none of the Board members supported one option over another at this time.

The next step is to continue to keep these options open and work in unison with the actual engineering side of the project (architect, design and PLANCON process) for a successful project.
• The district did some legwork to get an idea of the estimated costs for . Two different options ranged from $25,000 to $50,000 but no decision was made at this time.

• The district will solicit bids for a replacement snow plow truck. The total cost will not exceed $30,000.
• The board watch a presentation on the curricula for Health and Phys Ed for all grades. (see PDF)
A vote on whether or not to approve the curricula will be held at a later date.
• The members held a brief discussion regading board goals.
A chart was provided with each goal along with the activity and progress to date. The board made one grammatical change and one additional activity to the fiscal responsibility goal. The chart will be updated and available next week, and the board will begin discussions for their 2011-2012 goals in December after the reorganization meeting. The standards of performance (see PDF) are an ongoing pledge in addition to the specific goals set each year. The standards of performance do not change annually like the board goals.
• The board's business meeting will be Monday, Nov. 14.
