Local Marine Ryan Beyer Back in the US
The Perkiomen Valley graduate has been serving in Afghanistan.
Marine Lance Corporal Ryan Beyer—Perkiomen Valley School District grad and "" of students—has returned from his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Beyer was deployed earlier this year, and his mother, Joan, reports he will be back in his hometown of Skippack Oct. 14. He is currently in Camp Lejune, NC, follwing his Sept. 19 return to the U.S.
In an email to Patch, Joan Beyer added "Ryan ... was awarded the Iron Man award (most physically fit mentally endured Marine) in June 2010 from the entire graduating Marines in Paris Island, SC.

She also included this video of her son's return to Skippack after completing boot camp.
"In the grand scheme of things, maybe it looks different in other people's eyes, but I don't think I've done all that much," Beyer says in the video. "I have a lot more to do in the Marine Corps. I'm not gonna stop; I'm not gonna be satisfied. And I just want to thank you for the support, and thank you for the recognition, not that I need any. ... Nothing like this has ever happened to me."
