Erik Enters provided the following information:
Perk Valley lost Friday’s contest 2-1 five minutes into overtime.
maintained constant pressure throughout the first half but could not convert on 5 corner plays. There were several scoring chances as the ball just missed wide of the net on shots by Annie Himsworth, Sarah Roos, and Chandler Geise. PV thought they had a goal or a stroke on a play along the goal line but were only awarded a short corner instead.
The second half featured a change of momentum early on as Henderson came out and showed why they are an undefeated team. For the first 10 minutes PV had difficulty clearing their own defensive half and Henderson was finally able to connect after a bunch of quality chances to take the 1-0 lead. After a timeout, PV adjusted its’ approach to the game and started passing the ball more and utilizing the left side of the field. Sammy Parker, Colleen McGann and Sarah Roos had multiple passing combinations that eventually turned into sustained pressure in the Henderson end. After Annie Himsworth was able to force a corner, Chandler Geise connected on a nice pass from Annie to knot the score at 1-1 with 5 minutes left.
In overtime, the Vikings looked a bit tired. Understandable considering it was the 4th game in 5 days. Off a turnover at the top of the D, Henderson was able to get the game winner off the stick of Katie O’Donnell and walk away with a hard fought victory.
PV moves to 10-3 overall and remains 8-1 in the PAC-10.
