Perkiomen Valley School Board Pres. Says Sorry For Facebook Post That Caused Controversy
Perkiomen Valley School Board President Jason Saylor, who was elected to the board in November, apologized for a questionably worded post.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA — The Perkiomen Valley School Board president Monday night addressed a controversial issue that involved a questionable social media post put out by his campaign during this year’s election, and one that some community members felt was shared in bad taste.
Jason Saylor, who won election to the board in November and has since been chosen as the board president, opened Monday’s meeting by apologizing for a Facebook post put out by his Flip4PV campaign that referenced “four white men” running for school board.
Saylor said the post was taken out of context and he never meant to offend anyone by the wording in the post.

“This has been a difficult week for our community since we last met and I am saddened by that,” Saylor said in his opening remarks. “By difficult I am referencing how social media has continued to bring our community apart.”
Saylor said while he cannot change the past, he can “learn from it and understand the issues it has created."

Saylor said since the campaign, himself, along with new members Don Fountain and Rowan Keenan, have been associated with "white supremacism" following the Facebook post, which he said is absolutely untrue.
Saylor apologized to his colleagues for the post and the negative feedback it has created, “and to my community as a whole, I am deeply sorry.”
Saylor also took time to address social media itself, saying that perpetuating rumors online is “not healthy to our community.”
“I think we should consider removing ourselves from the connected devices and check in on our neighbors and our families,” he said. “We need to rebuild this community. We need to come together, and we can do this with personal connection and not on a computer device.”
