Skippack and Schwenksville Fire Companies Host Open Houses
Communities got a closer look at the work of an emergency responder.
Skippack and Schwenksville fire companies -- on Thursday and Saturday, respectively -- greeted the public as they and other area firefighters hosted open houses.
Visitors could check out the trucks and other rescue equipments. Skippack guests also watched Towamencin firefighters demonstrate a vehicle rescue, kids extinguished small, controlled fires and crawled through a bouncy, smoke-filled house. Hay was set ablaze in Skippack's "burn building" at the end of the night, and the companies went into action as if they were responding to a house fire.
