Students To Operate Produce Stand At Collegeville Farmers' Market

The students will be selling what they harvest at their own PV Produce Stand every Saturday in July and August from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Collegeville Farmers Market

Starting July 7, the Perkiomen Valley School District community will be able to buy fruits, vegetables and herbs that have been grown locally by the "TAKE ACTION!" student group, which recently planted a garden on the grounds of Perkiomen Valley High School.

The students will be selling what they harvest at their own PV Produce Stand every Saturday in July and August from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Collegeville Farmers Market, which is located in the parking lot behind the AmeriGreen gas station at 460 E. Main Street in Collegeville. Students are growing -- and hope to sell -- the following items: fennel, marigold, oregano, parsley, cilantro, sage, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, pepper, eggplant, tomatillos, onions, green onions, arugula, bok choy, peas, chard, beets, cucumbers, beans, watermelon, zucchini, pumpkins, and mint.

The "TAKE ACTION!" group is a student initiative at the high school overseen by advisors Amy Brecht and Josh Craven. The group is committed to fulfilling initiatives that improve the sustainability of the high school and its community.
