VOTE: Perkiomen Creek Nominated Pennsylvania River of the Year

The Perkiomen Creek is making a big splash. Vote your local creek as "river of the year" now.

The Perkiomen Creek has been nominated as the Pennsylvania River of the Year for 2017.

The competition, organized by the environmental nonprofit Pennsylvania Organization for Watersheds & Rivers, is based on an online poll that is open to the public. If the Perkiomen wins the voting, the sponsoring agency, the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy, will win a $10,000 grannt.

"The grant provides funding for stream clean-ups and recreational activities like sojourns," said Beth Myers, a student at Ursinus College who works part-time with the Conservancy. "PWC already engages in activities, such as stream clean-ups and sojourns, but the grant would allow us to clean-up more sections of the 362 square mile Perkiomen Creek watershed and introduce more local residents to our beautiful environment."
