Peters Township Schools Win Grant, Serve as Mentors
The state will award Peters several thousand dollars to mentor a lower-performing school.

The state education department has chosen the Peters School District to be a model for other Pennsylvania schools.
The state will award six local schools over $280,000 total to develop a school mentoring program. The initiative will pair high-performing schools with low-performing schools in order to increase student achievement.
Out of 55 applicants, seventeen school districts across the state won grants to act as mentors.

“This program goes to the heart of our education system — increasing student achievement and preparing students for post-high school success,” Governor Tom Corbett said in a release.
Mentee schools will be named by the end of October.
