Toy Drives Around Peters: How To Make The Holidays Merry For Everyone

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA — While you’re checking off holiday gifts for family members, don’t forget the kids who aren’t on anyone’s shopping list and pick up some items for toy drives in and around the city.

One of the most well-known toy drives is the Toys for Tots campaign, led by the Marine Corps Reserves. Since 1947, Toys for Tots drives across the country have collected 708 million toys that were distributed to 314 million children. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS-recognized nonprofit public charity created in 1991, uses 97 percent of every donation to buy toys for children in need.

Toys for Pittsburgh Tikes

The organization's objective is to aid children in need throughout Pittsburgh and its neighboring regions by supplying "New" toys, books, and premium play items during the festive season and other periods when help is needed, thus nurturing joyful childhood experiences and enriching lives.

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Child Life Department

• Shop the online holiday registry. These items are picked out by the hospital's Child Life department,. Anything purchased through this registry will be sent directly to the hospital.
• Please do not drop off toys at the hospital; they can’t be accepted.
• Donate or fundraise online. Monetary donations allow the Child Life team the flexibility to purchase specific toys for patients.
