Sales are Super for Wisconsin Variety Store
Nelson's Variety Store in Caledonia is well known for Packer novelty items. They just so happen to sell Steelers items, too.
Editor's note: Peters Patch is teaming up with Caledonia Patch in Wisconsin sharing local Super Bowl XLV coverage.Â
With the Packers in the Super Bowl, business has been good at Nelson's Variety Store, 4636 Douglas Ave.
Flashing dangly earrings in the shape of a G, Packer flags, pennants, lamps and a four-foot tall goal post -- these are all items Jeff Nelson of Nelson's Variety Store has for sale.

And sales have skyrocketed by 300 percent in January compared to last January, he said.
"Sales kind of drop off in January and we usually don't see a spike until Valentine's Day," Nelson said. "But not this year."

People have been clamoring for Packer plates, napkins and novelty items. One customer said she hasn't gotten any new Packer gear since 1997. Nelson laughed and said, "You're just like my wife, she told me she has the same sweatshirt from then, as well."
Cheesehead hats are flying off the shelf. On Monday, only two cheesewedges were available and those weren't even hats, they were cupholders. Nelson said he has half of his order already sold.
Nelson also keeps a few Steelers items for sale.
"One woman came in and bought up about $80 worth of Steelers items," Nelson said.
On Monday, the items were pretty few on a table on the other side of the Packer isle.
Whom ever you root for, Nelson is pretty happy to have the business.
