Sarris Candies Experiencing Jellybean Shortage This Year
The Canonsburg-based candy company isn't producing three of its popular jellybean flavors.
CANONSBURG, PA — Few would have predicted a jellybean shortage this Easter season. But Canonsburg-based Sarris Candies has announced that its pectin petite, spiced and licorice jelly beans are unavailable this year.
The starch Sarris uses to produce the Easter treat could not be obtained this year, and the company's previous supplier has discontinued jelly bean production altogether.
"At this time, we are working on finding another manufacturer to match the formulation of our signature jelly beans for next year," a message on the company's Facebook page stated. "In the meantime, we welcome you to fill your baskets with our wide range of other seasonal sweets.
