Car Plunges Into Schuylkill; Driver Not Located
A fisherman said he saw the driver reverse the car right before they got to the Girard Avenue Bridge, and go into the water.
PHILADELPHIA — Emergency crews found a car that plunged into the Schuylkill River on Friday morning but did not locate the driver or any passengers, Philadelphia Police said.
A witness spotted the black sedan going into the river near the Girard Avenue Bridge at around 3:45 a.m. and called 911, according to officials. Police and fire officials responded to the 1200 block of Kelly Drive to begin a search.
Dive teams pulled the car from the water at around 9 a.m. after searching for several hours, police said.

The witness, Anthony Manduzio, had been fishing at the time, as he told NBC10 and ABC6.
"I saw a car coming on Kelly Drive at high speeds, slam on the brake right before they got to Girard Bridge, (and) throw it into reverse," Manduzio told Action News.

Manduzio said he tried to flag down other drivers to help, and waded into the water himself at one point to try and get the driver's attention.
Officials are still investigating, and did not release much more information as of 10:40 a.m. Friday.
