Police Chase Ends With Center City Philadelphia Crash Tuesday Night
Pennsylvania State Police said a Chevy Impala fleeing a traffic stop crashed into two vehicles at 11th and Market streets late Tuesday.
PHILADELPHIA — A driver fleeing a Pennsylvania State Police traffic stop in Philadelphia was taken into custody after crashing into two vehicles in Center City late Tuesday night, authorities said.
The incident began at about 11:43 when troopers tried to stop a black Chevrolet Impala for erratic driving at North 33rd and Spring Garden street.
The Chevy drove off on Spring Garden and headed to the Ben Franklin Parkway, then went south on 19th Street to eastbound JFK Boulevard.

Police said the vehicle then went to southbound 11th Street from Filbert Street, where the chase ended.
Then, at the intersection of 11th Street and Market Street, the Chevy tried to go between two stopped vehicles — one a SEPTA bus, per Action News — at a red light when it struck both vehicles, police said.

It's unclear if anyone was injured in the crash.
The driver, Marcus Stewart, was taken into custody without incident and will be charged with DUI, drug possession and various traffic related charges stemming from the pursuit, police said.
Stewart was also found to have six active warrants from various counties, according to authorities.
