Teen Shot, Killed In Chipotle Bathroom: Philadelphia Police
The boy died in a Chipotle restaurant near Temple Monday night, which happened to be the first day back for students after winter break.
PHILADELPHIA — A teen boy is dead after he was found shot inside a Philadelphia Chipotle restaurant Monday.
Police were called to the Chipotle restaurant at 1100 W. Montgomery Ave. near Temple University's campus at about 5:15 p.m. for a report of a person with a gun.
There, they found 16-year-old Khyon Smith-Tate, of the 2500 block of North Hutchinson Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest in the restaurant's bathroom. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police said Smith-Tate and another juvenile went into the Chipotle restaurant at about 5:15 p.m. and asked for access to the bathroom. Shortly thereafter, employees found the victim in the bathroom suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest, police said.
Authorities said a spent shell casing from a semi-automatic weapon was found in the bathroom.

Investigators are looking for several people in connection with the deadly incident. One is described as a black male, 16 to 17 years old, with dreadlocks who was wearing a black coat, a pink hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, black sneakers, and carrying a red backpack. The second is also described as a black male 16 or 17 years old who was wearing a black coat, black jeans, black sneakers, and carrying a black backpack. The third suspect, another black male age 16 to 17, had dreadlocks and was wearing a black coat, blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black sneakers, and carrying a dark-colored backpack.

A reward of $20,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Monday was the first day back from winter break for Temple students. The nearby shooting prompted the school to warn students to avoid the area.
Smith-Tate had no ties to Temple.
"The loss of life to gun violence is a profound tragedy and there are no words that can make sense of it," the university said. "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones."
