Tree Fall Injures 8 At Philadelphia High School Reunion: Reports
Multiple people were injured Sunday afternoon after a large tree fell on a group in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, according to reports.
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Multiple people were injured Sunday afternoon after a large tree fell on a group in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, according to several reports.
The white oak tree estimated to be around 90 years old fell during the WestFest class reunion party around 12:20 p.m. near the 5300 block of N. Georges Hill Drive, 6abc reported.
Police initially reported that six people between 66 and 67 years old were injured, 6abc added. The party was held for the West Philadelphia High School class of 1972.

However, once the Philadelphia Fire Department assessed the scene, two others were found to be in need of medical attention. One person had to be removed from under the tree, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
The individuals were taken to area hospitals to be treated for various injuries, the publication reported. All were listed in stable condition.

"We're just praying for them. We're going to try and keep it going, this is something that's annual," one bystander told 6abc.
A second tree fall was reported a few hours later 100 feet away, interrupting a class of 1982 reunion. No injuries were reported.
The first tree was cleared from the park by Sunday night, park officials told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
