$35M Bond Approved By Phoenixville Area School Board For New School

PHOENIXVILLE, PA —The Phoenixville Area School Board this week approved s $35 million bond to finance the construction of a new elementary school.

The bond will be paid over 15 years, officials said. A new elementary school is under construction at Hares Hill Road, East Pikeland Township.

The school approved the construction of a fourth elementary school to alleviate overcrowding in the middle school and to support a projected increase in students.

The school administration and board are reviewing a proposal to move the sixth grade to elementary schools and change the boundaries of the elementary schools.

Dr. Alan Fegley, the superintendent, said he anticipates the administration will have a specific recommendation for boundary changes by June.

The district has three elementary schools, Barkley, Manavon, and Schuylkill; a middle school; and a high school.

The district covers 22 square miles and consists of the borough of Phoenixville, and East Pikeland and Schuylkill townships. It has 32,000 residents.
