Flooding, Power Outages As Coastal Storm Hits Chesco

Creeks and streams were rising as the rain continued to fall Monday, according to forecasters.

CHESTER COUNTY — A coastal storm dumped two to four inches of rain and left 670 customers in Chester County waking up in the dark Monday morning.

The outages occurred between midnight and 9 a.m. By 9 p.m. Monday, a total of 235 customers PECO customers were still without power. The bulk of the outages were in West Vincent, West Brandywine and East Whiteland townships.

Flood warnings remain in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

By Tuesday afternoon, sunshine is expected to return, but wind gusts are predicted to go as high as 25 mph.

Forecasters are predicting clear skies for the remainder of the week.

Minor flooding was likely to occur Tuesday night as the west branch of Brandywine Creek reached 9.29 feet near Honeybrook, and the east branch of Brandywine Creek reached 10.41 feet near Downingtown, according to the National Weather Service.
