Late Start Monday For Radnor School District After Super Bowl Sunday

Other districts in the region are keeping to the regular schedule, while cheering on the Eagles during the day.

RADNOR, PA —Radnor Township School District buildings are lit up green today, displaying excitement and joy over the Eagles playing Sunday in Super Bowl 57 in Arizona.

The district is also planning a two-hour delay on Monday, Feb. 13, according to Theji Brennan, acting communications director.

“The school district is excited to cheer on the Eagles, and that includes lighting up our buildings green, ” Brennan said.

The students are also participating in pep rallies in their classrooms Friday to cheer on their team in Super Bowl 57 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The district had previously scheduled a two-hour delay on Wednesday for professional development.

"Understanding that many families and students may be up late to cheer on the Eagle, we have moved the two-hour delay to Monday,” Brennan said.

Several other districts in the region are keeping to the regular school hours.

“We are business as usual,” said Mary Schwemler, communications manager for the West Chester Area School District. “Many of our schools are holding pep rallies, doing musical sendoffs, and similar activities today and possibly Monday if the Eagles win.”

Great Valley and Tredyffrin/Easttown school districts, both in Chester County; and Spring-Ford School District in Montgomery County, are keeping to a regular schedule Monday.

Philadelphia School District is also planning a two-hour delay Monday to provide families with an opportunity the cheer on the Eagles Sunday night without the pressure of getting children ready for school early Monday.

Two-hour delays are also planned in two South Jersey districts, Washington Township and Gloucester City school districts.

Five years ago, the Super Bowl parade was the Thursday after the 41-33 win against the New England Patriots.

Eagles rode in an open-top double-decker bus from Lincoln Financial Field to the Art Museum.

If there is a win, there will be a parade in Philadelphia.

But no date will be set until it happens.
