Pawlings Road Reopens After Wild Morning Commute

A messy windy and wintry morning led to road shutdowns and delays around Phoenixville and Schuylkill Township.

SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP, PA — Pawlings Road has reopened in Schuylkill Township after shutting down Thursday morning in the midst of a windy and wintry morning.

Wind gusts, which forecasters said could reach 50 miles per hour Thursday, took down te. a tree and power lines near Ferry Lane. The road was shut down from the river to Ferry Lane for hours.

Pawlings Road was diverted to Route 29 to Egypt Road or 422 west, adding additional congestion to those typically jammed routes during the morning commute.

Country Club Road remains shut down between Westgate Drive and Valley Forge Road for another fallen tree, police said.
