Once again, The Old Pool Farm in nearby Upper Salford will host this annual outdoor music event & bring great music to the masses...

We can't talk about outdoor music events all summer long & not allow a special spot for the grand daddy of all outdoor music events - The Philadelphia Folk Festival!
The Folk Fest is a world-renowned folk music festival held annually on the Old Pool Farm, home to the Godshall Family, about a half hour away from Phoenixville, in Upper Salford Township.
The event showcases contemporary and traditional artists, superstars and rising stars alike, in genres under the umbrella of Folk including World/Fusion, Celtic, Singer/Songwriter, Folk Rock, Blues, Country, Klezmer, and Dance on eight different stages.

This year, the festival will return to the Old Pool Farm from August 15th – 17th, 2025.
The festival welcomes more than 35,000 visitors during its four days, including 5,500 campers. It is a perfect family event, too, with puppeteers, jugglers, storytellers, hands-on crafts and kid-oriented musicians. Children up to 11 are admitted free to the concert area. Older kids, 12 to 17, are eligible for the special half-priced youth ticket when accompanied by an adult.

The four-day festival, which is produced and run almost entirely by volunteers, booked by Bryn Mawr native (& former Borders Book & Music fixture there) Michael Braunfeld, and sponsored by the non-profit organization, Philadelphia Folksong Society, has been bringing world-class folk music to the area for over 60 years, making it the oldest continuously run outdoor music festival in North America.
The Philadelphia Folksong Society, the premiere folk organization in the greater Philadelphia region, is known nationally and internationally for producing the Folk Festival and bringing together generations of music enthusiasts.
This year’s lineup features internationally touring and Philadelphia-based artists including Alison Brown, Alejandro Escovedo, John Flynn, Solas, John Gorka, SONiA disappear fear, The Gibson Brothers, The Kennedys, John McCutcheon, John Moreland, Reggie Harris, Eileen Ivers, Robin & Linda Williams, Jesse Terry, Sam Robbins, Buskin & Batteau, Christine Lavin, and Tim O’Brien with Jan Fabricius, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, and Vanessa Collier.
There will also be a special Thursday night concert "Just for Campers" featuring local greats Hezekiah Jones and special guests Mason Porter & Chris Kasper on August 14th.
They join a BUNCH of other announced artists like American Patchwork Quartet; The April Fools, Ben de la Cour; Goldpine, John Forster, and Carla Ulbrich, Brittany Ann Tranbaugh, Cloudbelly, David Jacobs-Strain with Bob Beach, Elijah Wald, Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise, Main Point legend Larry Ahearn, Lili Anel, Max Davey,
History lesson kids: the event was originally held on the Wilson Farm in Paoli, but in 1966, moved to Spring Mountain in Upper Salford Township. Then, in 1967, the site was moved to a township park up that way for a bit and in 1971, moved to its present home on the Old Pool Farm where it's been ever since.
If you have never been to the Folk Fest - or if it's been a while since you have - Maybe THIS year is the year to dip that musical toe back in the Old Pool & see what all the excitement is all about... Just an amazing local event!
