"I was honored to be nominated by her to serve as president as our district faces some exciting moments, like the opening of our new elementary school and the opportunity to accelerate our shift to renewable energy sources," Overland said.

A resident of East Pikeland, Overland has a JD from American University and has been a school board director since 2021.

"I also want our community to know that I stand firmly behind our district motto— You Belong Here," Overland added. "We will continue to ensure our schools keep our students safe, both physically and mentally, and offer them world-class opportunities to learn and grow no matter who they are, where they are from, how they worship, who they love, or where they are going."
