Safety Upgrades Begin At Route 23 And Starr Street, Phoenixville

Motorists are asked to exercise caution next week when driving on Route 23 in Phoenixville due to lane closures for traffic upgrades.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Construction began Monday on the Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Starr Street intersection in Phoenixville to reduce congestion and improve mobility and safety.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

PennDOT's contractor will construct a dedicated left-turn lane from eastbound Route 23 (Nutt Road) to Starr Street to increase traffic flow and improve congestion.

In addition, westbound Route 23 (Nutt Road) will be widened at the intersection to provide space for a new right-turn lane onto Starr Street.

Additional enhancements include modernized traffic signals and ADA curb ramps; new pavement markings; upgraded bus stop concrete pad; and milling and resurfacing of the roadway.

Marino Corporation of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this $941,319 project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
