Trees Down, Roads Closed In Schuylkill Twp., Phoenixville Area

The severe storm Tuesday wreaked havoc around the greater Phoenixville area.

SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP, PA — Whitehorse Road has been shut down in Schuylkill Township at two locations following damages from the powerful storms that swept through on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The road is shut down between West Philip Drive and Pickering Lane and then again between Cherry Lane and Pothouse Road, police said.

A detour takes drives to Byrne Drive and St John’s Circle to get around the closed road.

In addition, trees or wires were brought down by the storm on Country Club Road at Beacon Hill Lane, Valley Park Road, and Laurel Lane, officials said.

Crews are on scene repairing damages and clearing the roadways Wednesday morning.

Tuesday's storm brought high winds, severe thunderstorms, and torrential rain to the region, knocking out power for some.
