SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP, PA — At long last — but actually just ahead of schedule — a key bridge has reopened in Schuylkill Township.

Construction on the bridge that carries Valley Park Road over Anderson Brook began on June 23. The road reopened Aug. 27. It had originally been scheduled to reopen Aug. 29.

Crews replaced the existing bridge with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert. An approach guiderail was also installed along Valley Park Road and painted brown.

The $1.4 million project, which is financed fully with federal funds, had kept the roadway closed 24/7 since June.

Lobar Site Development Corporation was the general contractor for the project.
