1950s Fabulous! St. Barnabas Throws a Sock Hop

Costumed residents enjoyed a mini-care cruise and rock n' roll music.

Residents of the St. Barnabas Communities were transported back to the 1950’s as men and women celebrated retirement with Sock Hop themed parties June 18 at The Village at St. Barnabas Mall in Gibsonia and Thursday, June 20 at the Crystal Conservatories in Valencia.

Retirees enjoyed the parties complete with poodle skirts, leather jackets, classic rock n’ roll music, dancing, libations, food and fun.

Highlights for both parties included:

  • The El Reys played memorable ‘50s rock n’ roll hits.
  • The “Hand Jive” and “Twist” made a comeback as dancers performed.
  • Staff and residents dressed in iconic ‘50s styles.
  • Yesteryear returned with a ‘50s era mini car cruise.
  • A classic Americana menu inspired by Drive-In Cafes and Soda Fountains included hamburgers, French fries, milkshakes, specialty cocktails and more.
