Five Things You Need to Know This Week

1. Tail Waggin’ Tutors

Tail Waggin’ Tutors is a program that gives children a judgment-free environment in which to practice their reading skills with a therapy dog.  

Join the Northern Tier Library from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 29 for the program. Registration is required at 724-449-2665.

2. Richland Concert in the Park

Free Concert in the Park featuring local rock band "KARDAZ" is at 7p.m. Wednesday July 3 at the new family recreation pavilion.

3. Wine Tasting/Fundraiser

A wine tasting benefiting The Promise Walk for Preeclampsia Pittsburgh will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at Atria's in Wexford. 

In addition to fine wines and appetizers, there will be items for Chinese Auction donated by local business owners and proprietors.

Tickets are $40 per person. Bring a friend and a two pack of tickets is $70.

4. Zombilympics!

The ultimate test of Zombie prowess! Compete against your undead friends in different games and activities that will test not only your strength, but also your speed, knowledge, and even art skills. 

The event for ages 13 and up takes place at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at Northern Tier Library in Richland. Registration is required.

5. St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk

The 22nd annual St. Barnabas Medical Center 5K Run/Walk kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at 5830 Meridian Road, Gibsonia.

From serious runners to morning walkers to wheelchair competitors, there’s something for everyone and every, including music, prizes and lots of free food at a post-race party

The cost is $20 per person. Register online at www.stbarnabas5K.com or by calling 724-444-KEAN.

Free parking is available at the St. Barnabas ballfield, The Washington Place and the Richland Fire Department. Proceeds benefit the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund.
