Tom Henry Chevrolet Opens New Showroom and Service Center in Bakerstown

With the crash of a champagne bottle, Tom Henry christened his new Chevrolet showroom and service center in Bakerstown on Friday evening.

Customers, employees, family members and friends joined him in the service area of the 32,000-square-foot building as he swung the bottle into a low wall, setting off a spray of celebratory bubbly.

Tom Henry Chevrolet has been a part of the Richland Township landscape since 1958 when Tom's father, Tom B. Henry, opened the business. Currently it employs more than 40 people.

The new showroom at 5886 William Flynn Highway (Route 8) is next to the old showroom, which was opened in 1962 and will be torn down by the end of January, Henry said.

Customers who have been in to see the new facility have been "wide-eyed and slack-jawed," Henry said.

"Everything is nicer, newer and brighter," said Tom's wife, Gail.

Customers will especially like the new drive-in service center—a door automatically opens when customers drive up, letting them pull in and exit their vehicles inside, the Henrys said.

The new service area is climate controlled.

"The old shop was cold in the winter and unbelievably hot in the summer," Gail said.

Gail gave Patch a tour and pointed out the modern waiting area, a playroom for children, parts department, conference room, offices and a special area for Tom Henry Racing.

"It really is built not only for what we need now but for the future," Gail said. "There's a lot of room to grow."
