We finished July with 53 calls to give us 284 total calls for the year. There were five fire-related responses that included three structure fires in Cranberry Township, a mulch fire, and a dumpster fire. Our crews responded to numerous fire alarm calls as well as assignments that were canceled while units were still responding. There were five incidents involving motor vehicle crashes with injuries.

Community Outreach

Severe weather threatened the 2021 Township of Pine Community Day and moved many activities inside the Community Center. However, we still had many residents stop by our booth to talk with our members and pick up some fire safety handouts. We were also able to hold the Fire Sprinkler burn demonstration below the Community Center. It was awesome to see so many attendees fill the hill to watch the burn demonstration and listen to Chief Ausefski’s narration of what was taking place. We also had many families stop by our trucks to check things out. We appreciated the chance to meet everyone, and share what we do to serve the community.

Training

The Emergency Medical Responder class continued for a group of members on Tuesday evenings and certain Saturdays. Members not participating in the EMR class, trained on other topics such as aerial truck operations and new hose standpipes kits. The standpipe kits have been added in preparation for the AHN Wexford Hospital. The hose loads can also be used as an option for other types of buildings.
