'We can also provide improved patient-focused care at other fire-related responses that may involve injuries or medical emergencies.'

August 18 2021

Our Quick Response Service (QRS) went live in the Allegheny County 911 system on August 16 at 9 am, and the first QRS call was dispatched on August 17. QRS provides basic life support for trauma and medical emergencies. A QRS unit typically arrives prior to an ambulance to initiate care. The Wexford VFC will provide this service within the Township of Pine under the medical command of the Allegheny Health Network and in cooperation with the McCandless Franklin Park Ambulance Authority

We are pleased to provide this service to the community. Trained members will not only be able to provide a new service through QRS responses. We can also provide improved patient-focused care at other fire-related responses that may involve injuries or medical emergencies. Approximately 15 members have completed emergency medical training at the Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician level.

QRS also provides another exciting membership opportunity for those interested in volunteering with us. Visit our recruitment page to learn about how to become a member.
