Mouse Triggers Boil Water Advisory For Pittsburgh Suburb

Residents of one of Pittsburgh's largest suburbs could have to boil water for the next week due to a rodent issue.

OAKMONT, PA — A mouse discovered in the Oakmont Water Authority's distribution system has prompted a boil water advisory for many residents of Penn Hills, one of Pittsburgh's largest suburbs.

The advisory could be in effect until Sept. 30.

"Oakmont Water Authority did not adequately protect one of its facility’s covered reservoirs," a notice sent by the authority to affected customers stated. "Evidence of this violation was confirmed by the presence of a small mouse within a covered reservoir. Oakmont Water Authority is flushing the affected system thoroughly."
