PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Plumstead Township are warning residents about rampant "porch pirates" after numerous packages were stolen earlier this month.

Police said they are investigating the theft of packages from Tall Cedar Court. More than $200 worth of Christmas presents that had been delivered were taken from the victim's property.

In a warning to local residents, Plumstead police said:

"Just so you are aware, porch pirates often work in teams, driving slowly and repeatedly through neighborhoods. Typically, one thief drives the car, while the other quickly scoops up packages and jumps back in the car for a quick getaway."

Police recommend that if you have packages scheduled to be delivered, be sure someone is there to accept the package. Or, have it shipped to a location where you'll be during the day, such as work.

Anyone who observes any suspicious vehicles or people in their neighborhood, should contact the Plumstead Township Police Department via 911, police advise.
