State Reps. From The Region Endorse Rochelle Culbreath For New 54th Legislative District
Rochelle Culbreath, who is running for the new 54th House District, got endorsements from state reps. from Montco, Delco and Philadelphia.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — One of the candidates running to represent Pennsylvania's new 54th Legislative District in the Norristown area has earned the endorsement of three incumbent state legislators.
The campaign of Rochelle Culbreath announced Wednesday that the candidate was endorsed by State Reps. Mary Jo Daley, Amen Brown and Gina H. Curry.
Daley represents communities in Montgomery County, Curry's district is in Delaware County and Brown's district is in Philadelphia.

Culbreath received the three endorsements following a campaign launch on Feb. 13, her campaign said.
Daley was quoted as saying the new 54th Legislative District would give Norristown a "real seat at the table," while Curry was quoted as saying Culbreath is the "best and only person for the job," and that the commonwealth needs "another African American woman sitting in Harrisburg today."

The new 54th House District encompasses Norristown Borough, Plymouth Township and Conshohocken Borough.
According to her campaign, Culbreath in 2000 became the first Black woman ever elected president of the Norristown Borough Council, a post she held until 2007.
Culbreath has been involved in the Norristown community in various capacities throughout the years. She has had volunteer leadership roles with the Norristown Agape Improvement Developoment Corp., the Norristown Homeowners Association Board, the Macedonia Community Development Corp., the Board of the Norristown Preservation Society, and the Norristown Salvation Army Advisory Board, according to information provided by her campaign.
Culbreath was also intimately involved in helping to keep Montgomery Hospital up and running in Norristown through the Save Our Hospital campaign back in 2005.
Culbreath says she is committed to improving the lives of local youth through various initiatives, and she is dedicated to community-police relations issues.
The campaign says that the newly proposed 54th Pennsylvania House District was created to guarantee electoral representation for the diversifying community in the areas surrounding Norristown, which is the county seat of Montgomery County.
"With a population that is 21.9% Hispanic, 21.2% African American, 4.2%AAPI [Asian American and Pacific Islander] and 48.3% white, the 54th will bring new voices and new perspectives to Harrisburg," reads a news release from the Culbreath campaign.
Culbreath's campaign will host a kickoff event on Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at the George Washington Wood B&B.
In addition to the recent endorsements from Daley, Curry and Brown, Culbreath has also received endorsements from Democratic State Rep. Nancy Guenst of Montgomery County as well as Montgomery County Commission Ken Lawrence Jr.

Another candidate for the 54th Legislative District is Greg Scott, a former magisterial district judge in Montgomery County who is a Norristown native.
