Aggravated Assault, Theft Reported in North Coventry

Aggravated Assault: At 7:42 p.m. on March 1, police arrested 55-year-old Samuel A. Kirk, of Pottstown, following an investigation into a domestic disturbance that occurred earlier that day.

Kirk is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was arraigned by District Justice Kraut, and was later remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $25,000 cash bail.

Theft from Vehicle: Police were dispatched to the 1000 bloack of West Meadowbrook Road on Feb. 28, at 8:38 p.m., on a report of a theft from a vehicle. The victim stated that an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from their vehicle within 30 minutes of police arrival.

While investigating the area, police attempted to make a pedestrian stop of a white male – later identified as Alex J. Hartzell, 21, of Pottstown – along the 900 block of South Keim Street, but Hartzell instead fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, he was apprehended by police.

The report states that Hartzell admitted to going into vehicles in the area, and added that he has a drug addiction. Police were able to recover the stolen cash from Hartzell, as well as other items that were stolen from vehicle in the area, police said.

Hartzell was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.
