Chestnut Knoll proudly celebrates 25 years of providing exceptional senior living services to the Boyertown community.

Built on the historic site of the former Boyertown Casket Company on West Fifth Street, Chestnut Knoll opened its doors in 2000 as a 3,000-square-foot residential community. Today, it offers 86 apartments for both personal care and memory care, with round-the-clock assistance that enables seniors to age gracefully in a healthy, supportive and homelike environment.

Chestnut Knoll has earned both local and national recognition for its dedication to providing high-quality care. The community was named 2025 Best Assisted Living by U.S. News & World Report and received The Mercury’s Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Assisted Living, Best Dementia Care and Best Home Care for its expanded services, Chestnut Knoll at Home.

Beyond caring for residents, Chestnut Knoll has also served as one of the borough’s larger employers, with many team members dedicating their careers to serving seniors and home-care clients.

Residents and staff agree the community is a special place. “It’s a great place to call home. The staff are friendly. There are so many people here from the area we can compare notes and reminisce about people and places from long ago,” resident Jeannette Nyman said.

“Chestnut Knoll feels like home. We’re a big family here,” staff member Tina Gehman said. “It’s a privilege and an honor to serve the residents. My heart is happy every day! We’re so blessed!”

To mark the milestone, Chestnut Knoll hosted a 25th birthday bash in mid-September. Residents, families, and community members enjoyed cupcakes, refreshments, and lively entertainment by the Boyertown Alumni Ceremonial Band.

“For 25 years, Chestnut Knoll has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors and supporting families in Boyertown and beyond,” Holly Heydt, executive director, said. “Our annual birthday shares in the celebration of our residents, team members, and the entire community who make Chestnut Knoll such a special place to call home.”
