POTTSTOWN, PA — While the investigation into the deadly Pottstown house explosion from late last month is officially still underway, some experts are weighing in more than a week after the blast took the lives of four kids and their grandmom, guessing that some type of gas was likely to blame for the incident.

A piece that ran earlier this week on State Impact Pennsylvania, a reporting project of NPR, said that experts believe the home explosion was likely caused by some type of gas, be it natural gas or propane.

Utility company PECO had recently stated that the home that exploded was not serviced by natural gas, but news reports also said that there were apparently propane tanks on the property.

Meanwhile, Patch reported on Thursday that a support fund has been created to aid the victims in the blast as well as other nearby affected residents.

While four kids and their grandmother died in the house blast, the two parents survived, although they were said to have suffered very serious injuries and were last listed as being in critical condition in an area hospital.
