POTTSTOWN, PA — Authorities in this western Montgomery County community are investigating a deadly shooting from this past weekend that claimed the life of a 22-year-old borough man.
On Tuesday, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele and Pottstown Police Chief Mick Markovich announced a joint investigation into the killing of Nahmer Baird, who died as a result of a shooting Sunday evening along the 400 block of West Street.
Police arrived at the shooting scene to find Baird unresponsive in the driver's seat of a white Nissan Sentra. He had been suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the D.A.'s Office.

Baird was rushed to Pottstown Hospital, but he was unable to recover from his injuries and he was pronounced dead at around 8:44 p.m., just over a half hour from when police were first dispatched to the crime scene, the D.A.'s Office stated.
Prosecutors said that investigators determined Baird had been shot at Locust Alley and West Street during an exchange of gunfire between occupants of the vehicle Baird was driving and a black Chrysler 300.

Police relied on surveillance video and numerous spent shell casings as the basis for their investigation.
The D.A.'s Office said that after being shot, Baird drove his vehicle eastbound on West Street for approximately two blocks before crashing head-on into a Dodge pickup truck, an accident that ended up injuring the male pickup truck driver.
The other driver was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The D.A.'s Office did not provide additional information about the occupants of Baird's vehicle.
Kahlil Wardak, a forensic pathologist with the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, performed an autopsy that found Baird died as a result of a gunshot wound to the torso. The manner of death was determined to be homicide, according to the D.A.'s Office.
Prosecutors are continuing to seek out Baird's killer or killers and they are asking anyone with information about the homicide to contact the Pottstown Police Department at 610-970-6570 or call the Montgomery County Detectives' Tip Line at 610-278-3638.
