Local Dr. Gives Supplies, Cash To Pottstown School

"Instead of raising taxes or cutting programs during this time of economic downturn, I felt that we could make a difference in the future of our children through this program." - Dr. Niraj Patel

From Pottstown School District Director of Community Relations John J. Armato:

Dr. Niraj Patel of the Chiropractic and Wellness Center -- 1143 E. High Street, Pottstown -- along with a number of his patients have helped ensure that the students at Edgewood Elementary School have the necessary supplies and equipment to help them prepare for the future.

Patel conducted his annual school supply drive that resulted in much needed notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, backpacks, folders and other materials being donated to the students at Edgewood.

Additionally, Patel made a $300 cash donation that will be used to help support student activities throughout the year.

Edgewood Principal Calista Boyer and student representatives met with Patel in the Edgewood library to accept the donations.

Boyer said the financial donation would be used to help support educational field trips throughout the year.

Patel explained his reason for initiating the program:

“Many children in our community have no basic school supplies," he said. "Instead of raising taxes or cutting programs during this time of economic downturn, I felt that we could make a difference in the future of our children through this program.”

Patel and Chiropractic and Wellness Center are no strangers to community involvement.

For the past five years, they have sponsored school supply drives for the students of the Pottstown School District.

Additionally, throughout the year, Chiropractic and Wellness Center conducts food drives for needy families and supports members of the military.

The Pottstown School District is fortunate to have developed partnerships with members of our community who are dedicated to the mission of helping young people succeed.
